two weeks.

OKAY guys, I did it. I officially have a blog. I told myself I really didn't want one until I got married or went abroad. well... I guess that time has come. I'm engaged!! Okay just kidding that's not that funny, but I am off to Africa in two weeks! There really is no way to put into words how excited I am for this adventure.

When I had the opportunity to go to Kenya before my senior year of high school I had no idea how much I would love Africa and everything about it. The people, the culture, everything... I loved it. I really did think that trip was a once in a lifetime experience, even though not a day went by that I didn't think about going back. I knew going on a safari with my family and staying in five star "tents" was all part of that once in a lifetime opportunity and that is why this adventure will be a different one! I am going with Help International which is a non-profit organization here in Provo. It is amazing. Their main thing is that they go into these countries and base what we do on what NEEDS to be done. It is a really personal thing that deals with these individuals that are living in poverty. We are going to be working on different projects but mostly teaching the people in Uganda about public health, AIDS, etc. So in two weeks I will start my six week adventure to Lugazi, Uganda. I think there are about 30 of us going and we are going to be living in a house with triple bunks and one bathroom. And one of the best things... I'm going with my best friend and roommate! Whenever I start to freak out and wonder WHAT I am doing, I remember I am not alone! Elise and I decided we wanted to do this back in the fall and I can't believe how close it actually is now. We have met most of the other people going, and I can already tell it is going to be a great summer. I feel like there is so much to do before we leave but everything is going to be soooo worth it!

My mom is coming to Provo next week and I can't wait to spend time with her and get ready for this trip! She loves Africa almost as much as I do and my parents have been so supportive with all the crazy things I do in my life! I couldn't be luckier. Speaking of great parents... my mom and Elise's mom are coming to meet us in London on our way back and then spend a few days there! My mom also loves London, so it was easy convincing them to come! It will be a perfect way to adjust on the way back and have a little girls trip!

Well anyway, this is my update of what I am doing and I can not wait to update everyone on the real good stuff when I am actually in Uganda!
